This session featured a very special guest speaker from Redbox, Kimberlie Christen, who spoke about Redbox’s success with mobile wallet and specifically Android Pay. During the webinar, Kimberlie and Joel spoke about Redbox’s history in mobile, and how important it’s to get buy in from the internal executive team and stakeholders. She discussed how the movie rental brand had to start small, and prove mobile’s true and substantial impact on Redbox’s marketing strategy before getting the buy in needed to go all in with mobile.

We’re able to see some very impressive statistics and data from Kimberlie that shows just how unique Redbox’s mobile marketing plan is. With over 8 million people in their text club and 45 million subscribed to emails, they use several marketing channels to interact with customers, with mobile being one of the most successful ones. They’ve had 32 million app downloads with 30 million customers subscribing to push notifications from their app. Android Pay plays an integral role in this plan, specially from a customer loyalty and convenience standpoint.
With a preview into what’s next for Redbox, Kimberlie described how the company is constantly analyzing what’s working, what’s not, and what can be tried next. The sky’s the limit for Redbox where mobile is concerned, and they have some very interesting innovative plans for the future.
