6 Signs You Should Switch Your SMS Aggregation Vendor

It’s frustrating. You’ve been working with your SMS aggregation vendor for weeks, months, or years, and you’re spending more time than necessary managing the relationship, or the vendor is not meeting your needs.

Realize you have a choice when it comes to who manages your SMS messages. It’s your brand reputation on the line if messages don’t get received, not theirs. Don’t you deserve a provider who can deliver results?

Here are a few signs that you need a better SMS aggregation vendor:

  1. Carrier Approvals Take Way Too Long

You’re eager to start delivering mobile marketing messages, but you’re bottlenecked while you wait for your aggregation vendor to get approval from carriers. Unfortunately, this is the case with many of them simply because there are only four Tier-1 SMS/MMS aggregators in the US (surprise! Vibes is one, with direct binds with more than 50 US domestic carriers).

When you work with an aggregator that isn’t Tier-1 you have to go through a middleman who then works with the Tier-1 aggregator to get approval from the carriers. That takes a lot of time, and can be frustrating.

  1. Without Massive Commitments, You Can’t Get Good Message Pricing

Your aggregator gives you a low, low quote per message, but the fine print says that’s only for customers who send far more messages than you do, or who are willing to commit for longer than you can.

You shouldn’t have to pay an arm and a leg to reach your audience. Whether you need under a million messages sent at a time, or over 50 million, you should be happy with what you pay, and you shouldn’t have to sign over your firstborn to get it.

  1. The Service is Subpar

We often hear about SMS aggregators lacking in the customer service department, and that’s a shame. For many providers, customer service has never elevated to the enterprise level the way it should. Customers can’t get a human on the phone to help when things go awry.

As a customer of any business, you deserve to have access to customer service assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Don’t settle for less.

  1. The Aggregator Wants to Fit You Into Their Model, Not Customize a Solution

Your mobile marketing needs are unlike those of your competitors, so why is this aggregator trying to force you into accepting a cookie cutter solution? You’re frustrated because the rigid plans the company offers don’t exactly meet your needs, but you don’t know what choice you have but to accept the terms.

You do have another choice! A reputable SMS aggregator should be able to create a personalized strategy to help you reach your SMS subscribers. Your solution should be as unique as your business.

  1. Your Provider Doesn’t Help with Audits

You’ve been notified that your SMS codes need to be audited, and you don’t have a clue of what that means. Your provider isn’t offering any guidance.

Because carriers frequently initiate audits on codes, you need a partner who will pre-screen and push back on invalid audits, as well as coach you to prevent them in the future.

  1. Your Aggregator Doesn’t Know What’s Happening in the Industry

Mobile marketing changes every day, it seems. As the industry develops new regulations, it’s important for you to stay abreast of them. But you’re busy doing your job, not monitoring mobile marketing news.

Your aggregation partner should have its finger on the pulse of mobile marketing’s governing committees and boards so that you are aware of compliance guidelines and can ensure you stay within them. Vibes has strong carrier partnerships with personal relationships at all major carriers and industry organizations like CTIA & Neustar. Our CEO is Chairman of MMA Board of Directors, and Vibes staff are active participants in MMA and CTIA committees. That means we make sure you’re always on top of what you need to know.

All in all, your SMS aggregation vendor should be an expert in both technology and mobile, and should be able to proactively monitor your account so that your mobile marketing strategy is streamlined and efficient.
