Before work: To be perfectly honest, I am not a morning person, but once I’m up, I’m up. To get my day started, I make myself a big cup of coffee and read my daily newsletters. Currently, I’ve been reading, "The Daily Upside”, "Huddle Up", and "The Jerky Loudspeaker" to get updated on current affairs and sports.
9:00 a.m. Every morning, I have a 30-minute stand-up meeting to collaborate with the rest of the team. It’s a great way to start off and prioritize my daily tasks by being aligned with what every member is working on.
10:00 a.m. My role is centered around business development, involving pipeline generation through inbound and outbound outreach. I cross-functionally work with the product marketing, demand generation, and sales teams. I like to spend the morning portion of my day following up with inbound leads to set up new meetings during the rest of the week.
11:00 a.m. Once I have followed up with any inbound activity, I focus on prospecting to potential customers. A key part of prospecting involves conducting research — I use the tools in my tech stack to find and target the right people at the right companies. I also use this time to do market research; I read up about the industry and share the content I find and learn with the rest of the team
12:00 p.m. I fix up a quick lunch and step outside on my deck to get some daylight while eating before returning to my desk for afternoon meetings.
1:00 p.m. This is where I spend time on prospective customer calls and work alongside the sales directors to learn more about customer needs and share how our solutions can solve their problems and provide value to their current marketing programs. A large part of my job is building relationships with the customers to help them throughout their decision-making process by providing resources and acting as a liaison between both companies.
2:00 p.m. During the second half of my day, I implement my research from the morning to strategically reach out to prospects to build awareness and create new opportunities. Around this time of the day, I also have a 1:1 with my manager who assists me with all my tasks and helps me advance in my role.
4:00 p.m. I spend the last hour of my day completing courses to get certified in tools I require for my career development. I channel our core value of "always be learning" as I am truly a believer in that adage in all aspects of life.
After Work: Due to being remote, I am currently working from Carmel, California, and living with my folks. As soon I wrap up work by around 3:30 pm pacific time, I refresh by taking a quick nap and then head out for a hike with the family. We tend to go on a 3-mile hike in the nearby area to Palo Corona Regional Park or Point Lobos. On the days when I feel a bit lazy or the weather is awful, I like to listen to music and paint. I find it to be the best way to unwind and unleash my creativity.
Why did you decide to join Vibes?
After graduating last May, I was actively looking for a marketing role at a company that has a growth mindset and whose core values align with those of my own as I embark upon my career and personal development. Additionally, Vibes’ continuous growth, innovation in the industry, Gartner recognition, and company size made it stand out to me from the get-go.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Vibes?
Definitely the culture. Every person you interact with at Vibes is super friendly and knowledgeable. A personal favorite of mine is our “donut-talk” slack channel that connects you with a different colleague on a weekly basis. Since joining Vibes, every co-worker I have met has not only welcomed me on board and provided guidance but also followed up to check in with me. A strong second is also the “game lunch” channel, where we hop on a quick zoom to play games like Among Us, Codenames and Spy Fall to during lunch time.
What challenges are you most excited about?
Working through zoom when you have never met your team can be challenging, but it can be exceptionally rewarding when you complete a task and outperform your goals despite working remotely. This is possible because of the constant support I receive from my team and the contagious energy they bring to work every day. I'm excited about being on a team that instils a sense of pride and a shared sense of success when we land another account or release another campaign and commit to delivering over and above what is required from us.
What is your best piece of career advice?
Working through a global pandemic taught me a few things: accept that you don't know everything, but you will do anything in your power to learn and adapt. Put the hours after work to understand and learn new tools. Be realistic and accept your flaws.
