A Day in My Life as a Director of Mobile Engagement Services
Before Work I am not an early riser. I like to hit the snooze button about three times before getting out of bed. The first thing I do post-shower is walk my dog Marv. I try to get a solid 30-minute walk in, weather permitting. This allows me to catch up on the many podcasts I listen to, such as “The Daily” and “Pardon My Take.” Then I make a quick breakfast shake, usually with Vega Plant Based Protein Powder. After breakfast, I make the long and treacherous 10 foot journey to my office, and login for the day.
9:30 a.m. 15-Minute Team standup with my direct reports. A great way to get some valuable facetime with my team in an informal setting.
11:00 a.m. This is when I typically get quite a bit done in my day. In my role, I wear many hats. I manage a team of three MES managers, and a full book of business comprising of some of the largest enterprise customers at Vibes. If I am not attending customer status calls to provide technical thought leadership on campaign design or consulting on integrations with the Vibes platform, I am planning and organizing team initiatives for the next week. 11 a.m. is a sweet spot for planning when I have the time!
12:30 p.m. I’m either walking Mr. Marv again, or hustling to the fridge to make a quick lunch before heading back to my desk for afternoon meetings.
1:30 p.m. This is a meeting hot spot for me. My job requires me to be up-to-speed about the Vibes platform and how customers approach Vibes mobile solutions, so you can often find me attending the Vibes “product office hours” meeting. This meeting is an open forum where members of our product, data, and engineering teams help provide immediate answers to customer questions around campaign execution and optimization, troubleshoot open tickets, and, most importantly, knowledge share with other team members.
4:30 p.m. Toward the end of the day I like to connect with my MES director counterpart. This is a chance for us to discuss urgent customer matters, team wins or struggles, manager feedback, and opportunities for collaboration. My role involves a lot of cross-department coordination, so it is crucial I am in sync with the other leaders of the MES team. Of course, customers come first, so I may have a call or two during this window depending on the day.
After Work I typically wrap up around 5:30 p.m. and take my dog out for another walk. I really should be a dog walker. This is normally a longer walk than the afternoon, but that depends on Chicago winter weather, of course! After that, I start cooking dinner for me and the wifey. If I am not in class and or studying for my Masters, you can find us hanging out and watching some fun and relaxing shows. I highly recommend MTV’s “The Challenge,” “Game of Thrones” and “The Office.”

Why did you decide to join Vibes?
I was actually not looking for a job when I heard about Vibes, but my best friend and I had a mission to work with each other at some point in our careers. He saw an opening on the Customer Success team, called me up and persuaded me to check out the company and role. The rest is history. Vibes’ fast pace technology, recognition by Gartner as an industry leader in the Mobile Marketing space, and company culture was the icing on the cake.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Vibes?
First and foremost, my favorite aspect of Vibes is the company culture. From chili cookoffs, summer Friday Happy Hours at the kitchen keg, and the Chase Corporate Challenge to recognizing Juneteenth Freedom Day as a company holiday, Vibes has something for everyone. I have yet to find another company that truly cares about its employees while also creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment to work.
A not-so-distant second are the incredible growth opportunities. There are extremely talented and intelligent team members and there’s always something new to learn from someone else. Everyone at Vibes takes pride in seeing those around them succeed. Help is never denied. There’s a lot of responsibility and hard work, but Vibes really sets you up with tools and resources for success.
