This Holiday Season: Better Engage Your Customers with Mobile Marketing

August 3, 2017 Vibes

It’s never too early to start planning your Q4 holiday marketing strategy. This year, you should consider adding mobile marketing to the mix. Mobile marketing strategy ideas like the following will add a little something extra to your holiday results, as well as give you a boost in customer loyalty.

Get Consumers to Engage Early
Build your mobile marketing database long before Black Friday by enticing customers to get your SMS offers. But remember: they’ll only sign up if your initial offer is compelling, so consider something like “get 25% off your next purchase” to get them to get on board with your mobile marketing strategy.

Once you have them in your SMS database, you can send your holiday offers right to their text message inboxes.

Stay in Touch with Transactional Messages
Shopping for holiday gifts becomes a full-time project management role for the average consumer. She’s got to stay on top of which order is shipping when, what’s out of stock, and when that product she’s been eyeing will go on sale.

Provide high value to her with transactional messages during the holidays. Here are some ways you can engage with her through her mobile device:

  • Send a message when a product is back in stock
  • Update her on the status of her order, with trackable shipping link
  • Ping her when a product she likes goes on sale

With transactional messaging, you can be your shopper’s personal assistant, helping her cut down on the tasks necessary to keep up with everything she’s ordering online, and ensuring her loyalty to your brand.

Give Loyal Customers a Gift
The holidays are the perfect opportunity for you to show your appreciation to all those loyal customers you have. Send a mobile wallet offer for a free gift — no purchase necessary. The catch is that customers have to pick up the gift in your local store. Once they’re in the store, there’s a high chance they’ll end up buying something anyway.

Even if they don’t make an additional purchase, this free gift strategy puts you in a good light with your loyalty members. Who doesn’t like being appreciated with a gift?

Hold a 12 Days of Christmas Sweepstakes
Consumers love to enter to win prizes, and promoting yours via mobile can get you eight times the entries. Using the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas, you can send push notifications each day of the contest, urging mobile users to click or swipe to enter to win.

Get consumers excited beforehand by promoting the contest a week or two in advance via mobile, as well as email, social media, and ads.

Make entry via a mobile phone easy and don’t require unnecessary contact details (phone and/or email should be sufficient). The people who enter the contest should be added to your marketing database.

Give a Sneak Peek at Promotions
Reward those customers who have added your loyalty card to their mobile wallets by giving them advance notice of holiday promotions and sales. You can choose to let them actually take advantage of the deals early or simply whet their appetite so that they’re ready to buy the minute the sale launches.

Create Holiday-Themed Offers
A customer of your restaurant might be compelled to come in for lunch when she sees that you’re offering a free candy cane shake with purchase. Your boutique customer might decide to pop in for your holiday open house. Take advantage of the Christmas season by theming your offers and making them irresistible.

Also consider using geo targeted push notifications so that you get her attention when she’s near your store.

Start now in planning your mobile marketing strategy so that when late November rolls around, you’ve already built your mobile marketing database and are ready to start making serious sales.
